David Freyer, D.O.

Dr. David Freyer is Director of the Survivorship and Supportive Care Program in the Children’s Center for Cancer and David R. Freyer, DO, MS is Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, Medicine, and Population and Public Health Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California (USC). He currently serves as Director of the Survivorship and Supportive Care Program in the Cancer and Blood Disease Institute at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), and as Director of the Cancer Survivorship Program and Co-Director of the Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Program, both at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is founding Co-Director of the USC Center for Young Adult Cancer Survivorship Research. Dr. Freyer received his medical degree from the Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. He took his general rotating internship caring for both adults and children at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and Hospitals, pediatrics internship and residency at Rush University Medical Center, and pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Michigan/CS Mott Children’s Hospital. Dr. Freyer’s clinical and research activities are concentrated in cancer survivorship, cancer control/supportive care, and AYA oncology with interests in treatment-related toxicity, survivorship care transition, cancer care disparities, and patient-reported outcomes. He is Immediate Past Chair of the Children’s Oncology Group AYA Oncology Discipline Committee, which he led from 2009-2019.
