New Patient and Expert Videos

We are excited to announce the release of new patient and expert videos on the Alliance for Fertility Preservation website! At one of our Stakeholders’ Meetings this spring in Austin, Texas, we had the opportunity to bring together patients, advocates, and healthcare providers from across the state to share ideas and experiences about cancer and infertility.

“The event at Livestrong was wonderful because it brought together the state of the science . . . and the real patient stories- both the grief of those who did not get a chance to preserve their fertility and the joy of parenthood for those that did. It gave a face and urgency to passing legislation that would make this an option for more of our patients.”

-Karen Albritton, M.D., AYA Oncologist, Cook Children’s Hospital

Discussions focused on how the risk of infertility and the need for fertility preservation impacts patients; the legislation for coverage that was pending in Texas at the time; and about how advocates could raise awareness about this important issue. We were fortunate to be able to partner with Alpheus Media to interview some of the experts and patients who were part of that night so that we could share their thoughts and stories with a wider audience. We also want to thank Ferring Pharmaceuticals for sponsoring the event, and LIVESTRONG for co-hosting and providing a venue at their headquarters in Austin. Please take a moment to watch, listen and learn!

“It was amazing to be in the same room with such a dynamic group of stakeholders with diverse perspectives, yet all committed to the same purpose. The energy was exhilarating; Recalling the evening makes me more committed than ever!”

– Terri Woodard, M.D., Reproductive Endocrinologist, Infertility Specialist, MD Anderson

Call for Patient Stories

Just like the courageous patients in these new videos, you, too, have something powerful to say! If you are a patient, survivor, or caregiver, we need your voice now more than ever. We are working to raise awareness about cancer and fertility in states across the country – with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and policymakers – but only they will understand the issue when they understand the impact that it has, and has had, only real people, real families. Please consider sharing your story with us or joining our advocacy efforts! Email us at: advocacy@allianceforfertilitypreservation.org.
