There are several existing professional education programs covering cancer and fertility that offer credit for oncology professionals.
This course collection addresses key aspects relating to the preservation of fertility in patients that will be undergoing anti-cancer treatment. Topics included are treatment options, consequences of treatment and fertility preservation techniques. Discussion of communications regarding how, when, and why providers need to address fertility preservation with their patients is also included. Healthcare professionals and patients share their personal perspective about the address of fertility preservation.
Enriching Communication Skills for Health Professionals in Oncofertility (ECHO) is a web-based training program for social workers, nurses, psychologists, and advanced practice providers focusing on building communication skills surrounding risk of infertility, fertility preservation, sexual functioning, body image, and psychosocial issues in adolescent and young adult cancer patients. This program is available at no cost and upon completion of all course requirements; participants will receive 17.75 continuing education credits.
